Seating arrangement for dinner at most functions usually the men are in front, and the women in the back or in the kitchen. When I was young, quite often I wondering if it is because the men were too slow or too rowdy when they eats? ;) Or it is our tradition that was not allows women to eat with the men at a large group? :) Today, as a young woman I appreciate every little tradition ,culture that left for me to follow. Back home, many Khmer Krom are very poor and many are struggling to survive. Each day, many children are wondering if there is any thing left for them to eat. :( Despite we have been suffering under Vietnamese control since June 1949( when French illegally gave Kampuchea Krom to Vietnam),despite poverty, hungry and poor, one thing for sure most of us will never let go of our Khmer heritage and tradition.
I hope and pray that no one in this world, especially the Khmer Krom children will never have to go bed hungry again.
